IN NOVEMBER, INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED 25 FACTS OF STORAGE-TRANSPORTATION-SALE OF LARGE QUANTITIES OF NON-EXCISED TOBACCO PRODUCTS

Representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in the month of November of the current year, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities conducted throughout Georgia, exposed 25 facts of storage-transportation-sale of large quantities of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks, for which 24 persons were charged as accused, 12 of them are detained.

With the financial support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation of Europe and the Embassy of Switzerland in Georgia, under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice, during the period of November 20-24, 2023, at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, was held a simulation training under the name - "Combating human trafficking: sustainability of inter-agency cooperation through implementation of national simulation training". The simulation training was implemented with the close cooperation and participation of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Prosecutor's Office, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, LEPL- Labour Inspection Office, LEPL - The State Fund for Protection and Assistance of (statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking and non-governmental organizations in Georgia.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, on the fact of selling large amount of forged currency, prior agreement as a group, four persons have been detained.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, criminal prosecution was initiated against two persons on the facts of illegal embezzlement of a large amount of property belonging to a non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity using the official position, in a group, by prior agreement and abuse of official powers.

Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, considering the high public interest, has extended the registration period for those wishing to participate in the paid internship program until November 27 of the current year. Electronic applications of those wishing to participate in the internship competition of Investigation Service are accepted on the official website of the Investigation Service http://is.ge/ka-ge/stajireba.
