As a result of investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, one person has been detained, on the fact of deliberately evading particularly large amount of tax.

Memorandum of Understanding between Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and University of Portsmouth, UK has been signed by Vakhtang Paresishvili - Deputy Head of Investigation Service and Sarah Duckering - Director of Research and Innovation Services of the University of Portsmouth.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out throughout Georgia, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, during the month of January of the current year, exposed 18 facts of storage, transportation and sale of large amount of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks and brought to the criminal liability 20 persons, 12 of which were detained.

In the Investigation Department of the Investigation Service, based on the collective statement of the authors and performers, an investigation is being conducted, on the possible appropriation of a large amount of funds belonging to the authors and performers by the chairman of Georgian Copyright Association (the third part of Article 182 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, one person has been brought to the criminal liability on the fact of unlawful use of other person’s trademark in large quantities.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, through the coordinated activities with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, on the fact of importing particularly large amount of goods through the customs border of Georgia, in violation of customs regulations, foreign citizen was detained.
