On September 6, 2017 the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia started investigation of the fact of bribery.

By order of the 1st Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Georgia – Mr. Dimitri Kumsishvili, based on the presentation of Head of the Investigation Service - Mr. Levan Gamkrelidze, Mr. Vaja Panozishvili was appointed as a Deputy Head of the Investigation Service.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has exposed three facts of breaching the procedure related to the movement of goods across the customs border. Three persons were accused and criminal liability was imposed on them.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have arrested a representative of self-government of Telavi municipality in village Kvemo Khodasheni.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out in Poti, Samegrelo region, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia exposed a group of people that were storing, transporting and selling cigarettes subject to marking, without excise in order to receive illegal income.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out in Samegrelo region, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia arrested four people that were storing, transporting and selling cigarettes subject to marking, without excise.
