INVESTIGATION SERVICE CONTINUES TO FOLLOW RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS ON THE EVALUATION OF ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING MEASURES AND THE FINANCING OF TERRORISM (MONEYVAL)

Today, permanent monitoring body of the Council of Europe the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) published the fifth round mutual evaluation report on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing measures. 
The document emphasizes on the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as the national coordinating body for the development of anti-money laundering policy, on fighting against crimes committed in the financial-economic sector. The report mentions the significant steps taken by the Investigation Service and the Revenue Service in recent years to combat money laundering.

The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia hosted the representatives of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (Sakpatenti), project leader Ibon Ormazabal and Head of Trademark Department Irakli Kasradze. The Head of Investigation Department of Service Kakhaber Khurtsilava, together with his colleagues introduced specific directions, procedures and legal bases of investigative activities to the guests. The conversations also touched upon the challenges faced by the staff of the Investigation Service in the investigative processes of the criminal offenses related to intellectual property violations.
