As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia through the coordinated activities with the police department of autonomous republic of Abkhazia of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, detained Chairman and a staff member of one of the municipal assemblies on the fact of transportation of a particularly large amount of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks.

As a result of search 8 310 boxes of non-excised tobacco have been seized, the approximate value of which exceeds GEL 34 000.

Investigation is underway under the second and third parts of Article 200 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
