The Investigation Service has prevented the violation of the rules relating to movement of goods at the customs border

Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, collaborated with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, on the basis of the operative-searching activities and investigative actions, exposed Armenian citizen on the fact of violation of the rules regarding transportation especially large amount of goods through the custom’s border of Georgia.

The investigation found out, that the person was transporting especially large amount of live crustaceans and smoked fish in Georgia from Armenia by freezer cargo truck, through the customs checkpoint of "Sadakhlo".

According to the declaration submitted to the customs, the Armenian citizen had to carry various types of fruit , but investigative activities revealed that, besides the fruit, the undeclared goods,  - 10 339 kg of live crustaceans and 1 110 kg smoked fish was transporting.

The value of goods seized by the Investigation Service estimates GEL 35 310.

Investigation is underway under the article 214, part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
