The Investigation Service exposed two facts of breaching the procedure related to the movement of goods across the customs border

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service. Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has exposed two facts of breaching the procedure related to the movement of goods across the customs border.


According to the investigation, citizen of the Russian Federation illegally imported large amount of gold products in Georgia through the customs checkpoint "Kazbegi", with the customs value of GEL 29 989. Also citizen of the Republic of Armenia illegally imported large amount of gold jewelry in Georgia through the customs checkpoint "Sadakhlo", with the customs value of GEL 52 351,55. As a result of investigative actions, total of 771 grams of gold products were seized.

 

Investigation is underway on the case under the Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment between 5 to 7 years.
