As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, initiated criminal prosecution on the citizen of the Republic of Turkey on the fact of breach of procedures related to the movement of particularly large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.
Investigation determined that the accused person, through the customs checkpoint “Sarpi”, while trasporting the goods from the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Tajikistan, incompletely declared goods. In particular, the customs inspection revealed, that instead of declaring goods with a customs value of GEL 99 070, accused declared only USD 13 264.
Investigations is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
