STORING AND TRANSPORTATION EXCISABLE GOODS WITHOUT EXCISE MARKS

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out in Samegrelo, Adjara and Mtskheta regions, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, during January of 2021, exposed 6 facts of storage and transportation of large amounts of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks. 6 persons have been exposed for committing the crime, 2 of whom have been detained. 

As a result of investigative activities, vehicles used to transport excisable goods and total number of 8 400 boxes of different brands of non-excised tobacco, intended for sale, were seized from the persons exposed in crime. Total market value of the seized tobacco exceeds GEL 34 000.

Investigation is underway under the first, second and third parts of Article 200 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
