Representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained 4 former employees of one of the Bank institutions and one civilian on the fact of misappropriation of property in large quantities by deceit, using the official position.

Investigation has revealed that due to their working position, accused persons had an access to the accounts of allowances of internally displaced people and pension beneficiaries. 

In order to obtain illegal material benefits, the offenders sought accounts of this category, to which a certain amount of money was deposited and, through various manipulations, transferred the discovered funds to a specially created account and then withdrew them, thus misappropriating GEL 71,972 in total 

Investigation is underway under the third and fourth parts of article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 7 to 10 years.

The appropriate measures are being taken to identify other persons possibly involved in crime.
