As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, carried out in different regions of Georgia, in January, revealed 30 cases of release, storage and transportation of excisable goods without excise stamps. At this stage of the investigation, 15 persons have been detained.
As a result of investigative activities, more than 30 000 cases of non-excise tobacco have been seized from the detained persons.
The total market value of the ceased non-excised tobacco exceeds GEL 117 000.
Investigation is underway under the first and second parts of Article 200 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
