As a result of investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, initiated criminal prosecution against three persons on the fact of misappropriation of large amount of state property by deceit and manufacturing and using false tax documents.

Investigation determined that the accused person, who was head of one of the companies, while participating in the tenders announced by the LEPL Revenue Service, presented forged documents proving his experience and while performing works ordered by the Service, instead of the German-made water pumps, as agreed in contract, installed cheap Chinese-made pumps. Therefore, he fraudulently appropriated GEL 15 150 from the state budget.

Investigation also determined, that two of the employees of the Revenue Service, who were in charge of monitoring the work performance, created a false inspection report, as if the services provided by the abovementioned company complied with the requirements of the contract.

Investigation is underway under the third part of Article 180 and first part of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
