INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA ARRESTED TWO PERSONS ON STORING AND SELLING OF CIGARETTES WITHOUT EXCISE

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia exposed two facts of storing, transportation and selling of especially large amount of goods subject to marking, without excise marks and imposed criminal liability on four persons.

 

Investigation determined that the accused persons, for the purpose of future sales, were storing and transporting in one case 4600 packs of cigarettes without excise marks in Adjara region and in second case 3500 packs of cigarettes without excise marks in Tbilisi.

 

Total market price of cigarettes seized as a result of investigative activities is more than GEL 25 000.

 

Investigation is underway under second and third parts of article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
