INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA HAS IMPOSED CRIMINAL LIABILITY ON THREE PERSONS ON THE FACT OF MISAPPROPRIATION OF LARGE QUANTITY OF STATE PROPERTY

INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA HAS IMPOSED CRIMINAL LIABILITY ON THREE PERSONS ON THE FACT OF MISAPPROPRIATION OF LARGE QUANTITY OF STATE PROPERTY

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by representatives of Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia two facts of misappropriation of large quantity of state property during the process of infrastructural projects had been exposed and criminal liability had been imposed on three persons –directors of two companies and one representative of the service receiver authority.

Investigation has determined that in one case the accused person, in order to receive illegal income, has artificially expanded the volume of work to be done by his company and used lower quality materials during the rehabilitation works of drinking water  infrastructure in Samtskhe-Javakheti region, thus, illegally took possession on GEL 10 300.


In second case, the accused person, in order to receive illegal income, used lower quality pipes during the rehabilitation works of drinking water  infrastructure in Kvemo Kartli  region carried out by his company, thus, illegally took possession on GEL 26 000. 

Criminal liability for improper fulfillment of duties had been imposed on a representative of the service receiver authority - one of the municipalities of Kvemo Kartli region, the person whose obligation was observing of working process. 

Investigation is underway under third part of article 180, third part of article 182 and first part of article 342 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 7 to 11 years.

Currently, corresponding activities are carrying out in order to expose other persons related to the above mentioned crime.
