As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the representatives of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, two persons were brought to the criminal liability for the sale of products dangerous to human health and for transporting a particularly large amount of undeclared movable goods to the customs border of Georgia by entering false data in the customs declaration, as a group.
Investigation determined that the accused persons, in order to receive illegal material benefits, attached stickers indicating the new expiration date to the expired foreign-made chocolate of various names, after which they were selling it in the trade network located in Tbilisi.
As a result of investigative activities, a large amount of expired chocolate, sold by the accused persons, were seized from the trading facilities, which contained micro-organisms dangerous to human health.
In addition to the above-mentioned, it was determined that the accused persons, by entering false data in the customs declaration, by truck vehicle, through the customs checkpoint, to the territory of Georgia transported undeclared food products of various names with a customs value of about GEL 85 000, which were also seized as a result of investigative activities.
The abovementioned action is punishable by the Articles 198 and 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 8 to 11 years.
