INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED TWO PERSONS ON THE FACT OF MOVING LARGE QUANTITIES OF MOVABLE PROPERTY ACROSS THE CUSTOMS BORDER OF GEORGIA BY CIRCUMVENTING CUSTOMS CONTROL

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, two persons were exposed on the fact of moving large quantities of movable property across the customs border of Georgia by circumventing customs control, with prior agreement, by a group of people.

 

Investigation determined, that persons exposed in crime, placed in one case 818 watches and in second case 874 watches, into the specially arranged secret compartments of the cars they were driving, and tried to move the goods covertly, through customs checkpoint “Sarpi” to the Republic of Turkey, by circumventing customs control.

 

Total customs value of goods, seized as a result of investigative activities, exceeding GEL 53 000. 

 

Investigation is underway, under the fifth part of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 8 to 11 years.
