As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in cooperation with Anti-Corruption Agency of State Security Service and National Food Agency, exposed two persons on the fact of deceitful misappropriation of another person’s property, with prior agreement, by group of people. 

Investigation determined that, the accused persons were buying horse and donkey meat, in different regions, for low price, and were transporting to one of the artisan made slaughtering houses, which was operating without registration and with violation of sanitary norms. They were softening and preparing above mentioned meat and sold it at marketplaces and different food facilities as beef.

Large quantity of meat was seized at the market and several facilities. According to expertize conclusion, meat contains DNA of horse and donkey. At the same time, different body parts of donkeys and horses were found in above mentioned slaughtering house.

Investigation is underway under second part of article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
