As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia in coordination with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, exposed three persons on the fact of misappropriation of state funds by deceit by manufacturing and using forged documents. 

Investigation determined that in the Samegrelo region, within the framework of the nut production promotion program, as an aid, state used to transfer points to farmers on agro cards in the average amount of GEL 100 to GEL 1500.

The persons exposed in the crime, in turn, represented the entrepreneurs who were involved in this program and were responsible for the sale of relevant agricultural goods to the citizens in exchange for the points accrued on the agro cards given to the farmers by the state.

Instead of the above-mentioned, in order to obtain illegal material benefits, the mentioned entrepreneurs drew up fake settlement documents for the sale of goods, after which they used to give to the citizens about 70-80% of the value of the points on the card, while they themselves used to fraudulently receive from the state and illegally misappropriate the 100% of the value of goods, as if sold with agro cards. 

Investigation is underway under the firs parts of Article 210 and Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 2 to 4 years.

Relevant measures are being carried out in order to identify other persons involved in the above-mentioned crime and to compensate the damage caused to the state budget.
