INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED THREE FACTS OF STORING AND TRANSPORTATION OF TOBBACCO PRODUCTS WITHOUT EXCISE MARKS

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with representatives of the Revenue Service of Georgia, exposed three facts of storing and transportation of large quantity of products subject to marking, without excise marks, and arrested one person.

As a result of investigative activities, 2 723 packs of different types of cigarettes and 500 packs of “HEETS” brand tobacco products, used for so called electronic cigarettes - IQOS,  transported for the purpose of selling afterwards, were seized in the vehicles of persons exposed in crime, in Adjara, Kvemo Kartli and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regions.

 
Total market value of products without excise marks, seized as a result of investigative activities, estimates more than GEL 10 000.

Investigation is underway under the first and second parts of article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
