As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, an entrepreneur and an employee of the state sub-agency Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture had been exposed on the facts of transportation of illegally obtained wooden material, production and use of false tax documents and abuse of official powers.
Investigation determined that the accused person, whose field of activity was the sale of wood material, purchased illegally obtained wood material with prior knowledge – transportation of which was carried out by entering false data in the consignment note. And the second accused person, an employee of the state sub-agency Environmental Supervision Department, abused his official authority and in order to get material benefit for himself and advantage for the mentioned entrepreneur, he did not carried out the appropriate procedures for checking the cargo and did not prevent the fact of transporting illegally obtained wood material using a false document.
Investigation is underway under the Articles 186, 210 and 332 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 2 to 4 years.
