INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED 22 FACTS OF STORAGE, TRANSPORTATION AND SALE OF LARGE AMOUNT OF EXCISABLE GOODS SUBJECT TO MARKING WITHOUT EXCISE MARKS

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out throughout Georgia, the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, during the month of May of 2023, exposed 22 facts of storage, transportation and sale of large amount of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks. 31 persons have been brought to the criminal liability, 16 of which were detained.

As a result of investigative activities, total number of 30 042 boxes of different brands of non-excised tobacco, intended for sale, were seized from the persons exposed in crime. Total market value of the seized goods exceeds GEL 148 000.

The abovementioned crime is envisaged under the Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and is punishable by imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
