As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Kvemo Kartli District Prosecutor's Office, exposed 2 persons on the fact of fraudulent misappropriation of large amount of funds belonging to the state, using official authority.

Investigation determined, that one of the medical centers located in the Kvemo Kartli region, during the period from August 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022, used to be a medical facility for the treatment of confirmed cases of "COVID 19". During the mentioned period, within the framework of the program, the director and the pharmacist of the mentioned institution artificially increased the cost of the medical services provided to the patients in the same hospital, by which means they fraudulently misappropriated a total of GEL 108 032.

Investigation is underway under the Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.

Appropriate procedures are being carried out in order to compensate the damage caused to the state budget.
