As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia two persons were detained for transporting especially large amount of goods subjected to marking through the customs border of Georgia illegally without excise stamps on the basis of preliminary agreement.

According to the investigation, it has been determined, that above mentioned individuals, having with the secret storages set up in the "DAF" model bus, tried to cross the customs border checkpoint "Sarpi" in violation of the customs procedure, from the territory of Georgia and transport - 48 920  packs of cigarettes without excise.

As a result of investigative activities, goods without excise have been seized, with the total market value of GEL 171 220.

Investigation is underway under part 5 of the article 214 and part 3 of the article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 8 to 11 years.
