As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Division of Investigation Department of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained one person on the fact of misappropriation of large amount of state property by deceit by manufacturing and using forged documents.

Investigation determined that the accused person, using forged documents,  in order to arrange homestead/household fraudulently registered 6 land plots in Mtskheta Municipality, total area of 28 800 square meters, owned by the State, as if they were used by natural persons. According to the conclusion of the commodity expertise conducted on the case, the market value of the illegally acquired land plot estimates GEL 2 919 977.

During the investigation, the illegally acquired land plots were seized.

Investigation is underway under the second and third parts of Article 180 and second part of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years. 

Relevant investigative measures are being continued in order to identify and expose other persons involved in the crime.
