As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained three persons on the two facts of selling of forged money.

Investigation determined that, in one case the accused persons, sold forged GEL 200 banknote in Kakheti region. As for the second case, the accused persons sold forged GEL 100 and GEL 200 banknotes in the merchants’ locations in Tbilisi and Shida Kartli Region.

As a result of the investigative activities carried out, total of GEL 4150 forged banknotes were seized from the detained persons. 

Investigation is underway under the first part of article 212 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
