As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia arrested one citizen of Azerbaijan on fact of breaching the procedure related to the movement of goods across the customs border.
Investigation has determined that the accused person, using secret compartments of a vehicle that was driving by him, was trying to import illegally 2,5 kilograms of gold products with customs value of GEL 165 500, from territory of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia through customs checkpoint "Sarpi".
Investigation is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
