Investigation Service actively continues detection of illegal cutting and selling of timber

Representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia systematically carry out measures to detect and expose individuals which cut and sell timber illegally.

Due to the operative-investigational activities of the Investigation Service a timber enterprise with storage of precious variety of walnut wood in especially large amount was discovered in Kakheti region. Materials were supposed to be used for making gun handles. On this stage, special measures are taken to identify the origin of above mentioned wooden materials.

Within the measures taken by the Investigation Service, many illegal timber enterprises, facts of illegal cutting, processing and transportation of timber were exposed.

All the individuals who were transporting and selling timber with forged documents were charged according to the criminal law.

Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia carries out intensive measures within the scope of its competence, for detection and suppression of illegal cutting and selling of timber.
