As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained three persons on the fact of illegal entrepreneurial activity as a group, prior agreement as a group secretly bypassing customs control and preparing for transportation particularly large amount of movable item across the customs border of Georgia and storing particularly large amount of excisable goods subject to marking without excise marks.
Investigation determined that customs warehouse owned by one of the companies in Tbilisi, in violation of the law, was engaged in entrepreneurial activity, and was receiving large amount of income of GEL 4 443 433, thus causing significant property damage to the state in the amount of GEL 978 004.
Heads of the customs warehouse company, on the territory of the non-customs warehouse owned by the company, were storing particularly large amount of non-excised cigarettes subject to mandatory marking without excise marks, with a market value of GEL 571 304. They, also, secretly bypassing customs control, prepared to sell various tobacco products with customs value of GEL 30 637 (market value of GEL 184 131) which were immediately seized by the Investigation Service.
Investigation is underway under the second part, paragraph “a” of Article 192, second part, paragraph “c” and third part of Article 200 and fifth part, paragraph “d” of Article 214 (18) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 8 to 11 years.
Legal entity involved in illegal entrepreneurial activities was also brought to the criminal liability.
