As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained one person on the fact of manufacturing and using false tax documents, fraudulent property damage of the property owner and legalization of illegal income.

Investigation revealed, that the accused, the director of one of the companies operating in the Adjara region and at the same time the actual manager of several companies, made fictitious deliveries of goods among the companies being into his possession, as well as filled in false data of timber origin and forged requisites of the respective tag in the consignment note, which turned those illegally obtained 1 338 m3 materials valued at GEL 768 775 into legal civil turnover, thus illegally received VAT credit equaled to GEL 106 936.

The accused person used that illegal tax credit to cover current tax liabilities.

Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 210, the third parts of Articles 185 and 194 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 9 to 12 years.
