As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the representatives of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, exposed two facts of the import of a large amount of undeclared various kind of goods at the customs checkpoint "Sarfi".
The investigation determined that in one case, a citizen of Azerbaijan, transported 12 species of medicines having value of GEL 15 762 to Georgia from the Republic of Turkey hidden from customs control, and in another case, a citizen of Georgia, transported from the Republic of Turkey precious gold jewelry hidden from customs control, having value of GEL 56 000.
Investigation is underway under the first and second parts of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
