Representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, through the coordinated activities carried out together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, detained two citizens of Republic of Armenia on the fact of breach of procedures related to the movement of particularly large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.
Investigation determined that the accused persons, using specially arranged hiding places, have brought to Georgia particularly large amount, undeclared precious metal products through the customs checkpoint “Sarpi”.
As a result of investigative activities, 508.66 grams of gold products were seized, customs value of which exceeds GEL 56 253.
Investigations is underway under the fifth part, paragraph “d” of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 8 to 11 years.
