As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, arrested one person on the attempt of fraudulent extortion of money, in possessed by another person.

The investigation has revealed that accused person contacted an individual with the status of internally displaced from the occupied territories of Georgia and deceptively persuaded him that in exchange for a certain amount of money and with the assistance of representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, he would manage to help him in obtaining the ownership of the living space in Zugdidi.  

With above-mentioned fraudulent intent, the accused demanded GEL 10 000 from the Civil person and was arrested on the fact of taking the sum from the latter.

The investigation is under way under second part of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
