As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service exposed 3 facts of moving especially large amount of property, by breaching the procedure related to the movement of goods across the customs border.
Investigation determined, that persons exposed in crime, were trying to stealthily bring in Georgia undeclared, especially large amount of precious metal - gold and silver goods, through customs checkpoint “Sarpi”.
In two cases, the persons exposed in crime, tried to bring the undeclared gold and silver goods with the specially arranged secret compartments of the cars they were driving, and, in one case, the accused person tried to stealthily bring jewelry by attaching it under the clothes.
As a result of the investigative activities, total 5 729 grams of silver and 669 grams of gold goods are seized. Their total customs value exceeds GEL 53 000.
Investigation is underway, under the second part of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
