As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, the employees of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, exposed 4 persons on the fact of damaging the state budget by deceit by manufacturing and using forged tax documents, as a group, 2 of whom have been arrested.
Investigation determined that the accused persons, in order to receive illegal material benefits, on behalf of the 14 companies under their management, in prior agreement, issued forged tax invoices amongst each other, as if they were providing construction-repair services, thus created forged VAT assets equal to GEL 514 641, which were later used to cover existing tax liabilities to the state budget.
The real estate and bank accounts in the names of the accused persons have been seized, in order to compensate the damage caused to the state budget.
Investigation is underway under the Articles 210 and 185 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
Relevant measures are being actively carried out in order to identify and expose persons in criminal connection with the accused.
