As a result of the operative-searching and investigative activities, the employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, started criminal prosecution against five persons, one of whom is a former official, on the fact of misappropriation of a large amount of state property by deceit by manufacturing and using forged official documents and neglect of official duty.

The investigation determined that in 2021, in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, using forged documents, with the help of false witnesses and as a result of improper performance of official duties by the employee of municipality, the accused fraudulently registered two land plots of 4 180 sq.m. having value of GEL 689 763. 

There was also the use of forged documents by the accused, attempting to register 2 land plots of 6 387 sq.m. having value of GEL 499 556. The fact was prevented as a result of the operative and efficient implementation of investigative activities.

The investigation has being continued under Articles 362, 180 and 342 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
