THE EMPLOYEES OF THE INVESTIGATION SERVICE PARTICIPATED IN THE TRAINING ON TRAFFICKING

Employees of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, with the support of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Embassy of Switzerland, took part in the simulation training on human trafficking organized by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. The training – “Combatting Human Trafficking: Sustaining Multi-Agency Collaboration through National Simulation-based Exercise”, was held in Tbilisi on November 7-11.

Employees of the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as well as representatives of the Labor Inspection Service, Agency For State Care And Assistance for the (Statutory) Victims of Human trafficking, along with other state agencies and non-governmental organizations working in the field of combating trafficking and protecting victims, participated in the simulation training.

The training was aimed to raise qualifications of the investigators working on detecting, preventing, investigating and prosecuting crimes related to human trafficking and improving coordination between the agencies working on this field.

Deputy Head of the Investigation Service – Vaja Panozishvili, addressed the participants of the training, noting that: “Trafficking and the fighting against this crime is one of the most important challenges for the world. Knowns as “modern form of slavery”, it is the basis of violation of universally recognized human rights and freedom reinforced by international treaties. Therefore, state institutions have a great responsibility and role to detect crimes and respond to it immediately through close cooperation; to ensure detection, processing and suppression of ways of obtaining criminal income, protect the rights and legitimate interests of the victims”. Deputy Head also mentioned, that in the future, the Investigation Service will actively continue its work in this direction.

At the end of the training, the organizers of the event summarized the course and awarder participants with the certificates.
