As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, six persons were accused and brought to the criminal liability, four of whom are entrepreneurs, and two - accountants of the company, on the facts of fraudulent misappropriation of large amount of money belonging to the state by an organized group, by manufacturing and using forged documents.

The investigation determined that in order to fraudulently obtain the monetary assistance provided for the citizens on maternity leave, in 2020-2022, the accused, according to a premeditated scheme, entered into the criminal transactions with pregnant women and fictitiously assigned them in enterprises under their management. After that, they manufactured forged documents, and using them received one-time monetary assistance for pregnant women, for 111 fictitiously employed persons - in the amount of GEL 111 000 from the state budget, which was distributed among the accused and pregnant women.

Relevant investigative activities are being carried out in order to identify and expose other persons involved in the abovementioned crime. 

Investigating is underway under the Articles 362, 210 and 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 7 to 10 years.
