MANUFACTURING AND SELLING OF FORGED DOCUMENTS REFLECTING NEGATIVE RESULT OF PCR LABORATORY TEST OF THE NEW CORONAVIRUSE

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained one person on the fact of manufacturing and selling of forged official documents.

Investigation determined that the accused person, on behalf of one of the medical institutions located in Imereti region, without proper laboratory examination, prepared and handed over the documents, for two interested persons, reflecting the negative results of PCR laboratory test of the new Coronavirus in exchange for GEL 200.

As a result of investigative activities, large number of pre-signed and stamped blank forms were seized.

Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 362 and forth part of Article 221 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.

Relevant investigative measures are being continued, in order to identify and expose other persons involved in the abovementioned crime.
