As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained two persons on the fact of misappropriation of large amount of someone’s property by deceit, prior agreement as a group and manufacturing and using forged document certifying authority on the property.

Investigation determined that the accused persons, with the help of other individuals, in order to misappropriate property belonging to an Italian citizen, forged passport of the Italian citizen and with the help of an unidentified person with a similar visual to the owner, by signing false purchase agreement, registered, in August 2021, 900 square meters of land plot located in the village of Digomi, in Tbilisi, on the name of one of the accused.

Within a few days, a new buyer of the land was found by the accused. While trying sell the land, accused persons were arrested in the process.
During the investigation, an illegally acquired land plot was seized, the market value of which, according to preliminary data, estimates GEL 350 000.

Investigation is underway under the second part, paragraph “a” and third part, paragraph “b” of the Article 180 and second part of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years. 

Relevant investigative measures are being continued in order to identify and expose other persons involved in the crime.
