Investigation Service hosted experts from the company Chainalysis (Mahmoud El Sadi Essa and Shailendra Sadh) as part of a 2-day training session organized for investigators and analytical staff. The company provides services to governmental, virtual asset service providers and financial institutions in more than 70 countries, as well as providing customized software tailored directly to them.

The digital capabilities of Georgia and the current positions of the local crypto industry on a global scale were reviewed, as well as the expected results of the process of mandatory registration of the virtual assets service providers planned in the country and the relevance of the capabilities of Investigation Service towards this direction.  As part of the training, the employees of Investigation Service had the opportunity to get familiarized with the specific softwares of the Chainanalysis company, taking into account the digital footprint traceability and analytical capabilities in the blockchain.

Prospects for supporting the educational processes at Investigation Service and training for its employees were discussed, taking into account such topics as: money laundering risks in terms of virtual assets and sharing of best practices; international cooperation with law enforcement agencies and its legal basis; digital traceability, including in blockchain systems, etc.

The parties agreed to continue communication in a specific direction in order to activate future cooperation.
