Memorandum on voluntary donation has been signed between the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia and Solidarity Fund. Document was signed by the Head of the Investigation Service Mr. Levan Gamkrelidze and acting Executive Director of Solidarity Fund Ms. Sofio Kakaliashvili-Dzagnidze.
Within the frames of memorandum, the Investigation Service will maintain monthly transfer of the sum of money voluntarily collected by the employees of the Service to Solidarity Fund of Georgia.
As a Head of the Investigation Service Mr. Levan Gamkrelidze mentioned, Solidarity Fund is doing really important and kind work. The Investigation Service joins this charity project with pleasure, being vital for children and young individuals suffering from oncological diseases.
On a meeting, conducted prior to signing the memorandum, acting Executive Director of Solidarity Fund Ms. Sofio Kakaliashvili-Dzagnidze thanked the Investigation Service for its kind support and made presentation on activities of the Fund for the employees of the Service.
In the presentation Ms. Sofio Kakaliashvili-Dzagnidze mentioned, that during the time of its existence throughout Georgia, the Fund raised more than GEL 11 million due to the help of 702 state bodies (offices) and 72 organizations, 58 of which were private companies. Fund has approved the financing of treatment for 427 children and young individuals (up to the age including 21) suffering from the oncological diseases. Medical service of 173 of those patients were financed in Georgian medical institutions and the rest 254 cases of diagnostics and medical treatment were approved for financing in medical institutions of Georgia, Austria, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Japan, Israel, Italy, France and USA.
As it was mentioned during the presentation, from the day of Solidarity Fund’s establishment till today, none of the children or young individuals suffering from oncological disease have died in Georgia because of the lack of money. This is a historic result, thousands of people were supported by this project and thus, it has the vital importance to keep this result by means of support from each organization or individual.
Mr. Iga Zaalishvili, Deputy Head of the Investigation Service, attended the meeting. He thanked the representatives of the Fund and mentioned, that the Fund has managed to gather private and state organizations around this kind activity which had a really important result. Employees of the Investigation Service will join the process of donation and will contribute fundraising for children and young individuals suffering from oncological diseases.
