As a result of coordinated activities of the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the fact of customs rule violation with regard to movement of especially large quantity of goods at the customs border was exposed.
Representatives of the Investigation Service have found and seized 1 113 grams of gold products from special hidden place of a car, which has entered the state through “Sarpi” border checkpoint.
According to preliminary data, the customs value of seized jewelry exceeds GEL 70 000. Relevant expertise is being carried out.
Investigation is underway under second part of article 214 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
