Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Investigation Service and Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy

Delegation of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, led by head of the Service, Mr. Soso Ramishvili, had a working visit in Italy. Within the frames of the visit, Mr. Soso Ramishvili had a meeting with head of Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy, Commanding General Giorgio Toschi. Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Investigation Service and Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy, which envisages mutual cooperation in the field of combating against financial and economic crimes.

Within the frames of memorandum, cooperation will deepen in the directions of combating against financial-economic crime, exchanging information and raising qualification of employees.

As the head of Investigation Service Mr. Soso Ramishvili mentioned during the meeting, signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy, is the beginning of new stage of cooperation.

“It is important for Investigation Service to share such experience that Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy has in terms of combating financial-economic crime. Within the frames of the Memorandum, we will be able to deepen cooperation towards all those directions that will help suppression of crime and protect financial and economic interests of Georgia and Republic of Italy. I hope that intensified cooperation will raise effectiveness of activities of our Services” – Mr. Soso Ramishvili stated.

Head of Guardia di Finanza, Commanding General Giorgio Toschi underlined, that signed Memorandum will not only support cooperation between two authorities, but also will strengthen the relationship between two countries. “Active cooperation in combating against such important offences as economic and financial crimes, will be valuable for both parties”- Commanding General Giorgio Toschi noted.

During the meeting, parties discussed details of future cooperation. Decision was achieved that in close future, visit of Commanding General Giorgio Toschi, Head of Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy, to Georgia will be planned. 

Deputy heads of Investigation Service, Mr. Vaja Panozishvili and Mr. Vakhtang Paresishvili, as well as Deputy Head of Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy, Mr Edoardo Valente and other representatives of the authorities, were attending the Meeting held at the headquarters of Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy.

Within the frames of the visit, members of delegation of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, had meetings with heads of - unit of combating against organized crime in financial and economic fields and unit of  tax payment control of Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy. They received information about databases and main directions of activities of the authority.

At the end of the visit, members of delegation of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, visited the museum of Guardia di Finanza of the Republic of Italy, where they got introduced to the history and the activities of the authority.
