BREACH OF PROCEDURES RELATED TO MOVEMENT OF PARTICULARLY LARGE AMOUNT OF GOODS ACROSS THE CUSTOMS BORDER OF GEORGIA

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, through the coordinated activities carried out together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, exposed Turkish citizen on the fact of breach of procedures related to movement of particularly large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.

Investigation revealed that the accused person has brought to Georgia particularly large amount of precious metal products, hidden, through the customs checkpoint „Sarpi“ using the truck vehicle under his control.

Customs value of 1 634 grams of gold products, seized as a result of investigative activities, exceeds GEL 175 000.

Investigations is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
