MAKING AND SELLING FORGED OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained two persons on the fact of making and selling forged official documents.

Investigation revealed, that in order to obtain personal material benefit, the accused persons, on behalf of one of the companies, illegally prepared forged notices and sub-lease agreements for 5 citizens for the purpose of letting them to receive GEL 300 compensation from the state budget - in accordance with the state program aimed at mitigating the damage caused by the infection caused by the new coronavirus. Forged sub-lease agreements showed as if those citizens were trading with precious metals and jewelry through the areas located in Tbilisi being sub-leased from the above mentioned company. The accused persons sold each notice for a fee of GEL 100.

Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment up to 3 years.
