Head of the Investigation Service, Soso Ramishvili and his deputies hosted Director of the Tax and Customs Police Department of the State Revenue Service of the Republic of Latvia, Kaspars Podiņš and Deputy Director, Kristina Prusaka-Brinkmanne.
The Head of Investigation Service introduced to the guests detailed information about activities, specifics, priorities and main directions of the Service, as well as the activities and achieved results of the Container Control Program being the joint project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).
At the meeting, the Georgian and Latvian sides discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation in the financial-economic field, refinement and improvement of analytical activities, efficient exchange of information and the aspects related to finding ways to effectively solve current problems with joint efforts. During the meeting, such issues as tax evasion, money laundering, illegal turnover of excisable goods, new system of VAT refunds and other financial-economic crimes were also discussed.
The representatives of the Investigation Service and the Latvian guests agreed that following cooperation would help to minimize the risks of financial-economic crimes, considering the interests of the both States and the trade relations that exist between Latvia and Georgia.
