As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia in collaboration with the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, one persons were exposed and arrested on three facts of misappropriation of large amount of money.

Investigation has determined that the accused persons have earned trust of two internally displaced persons from occupied territories of Georgia and deceptively assured them that in case of payment of specified amount of money, they would get the ownership of living space destined for refugees with the assistance of the employee of Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia.

As a result of fraudulent actions, the accused person received USD 3 500.

Investigation is underway under second part of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
