Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in spite of the threats and restrictions imposed by the new COVID19, keeps up working continuously in preventing, detecting and surpressing crimes, committed in the economic sphere.
During this period, the employees of the Service, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, revealed 25 facts of storage and transportation of a large amount of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise. marks, including 10 ones as a result of coordinated measures carried out together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
During the investigation, more than 46 000 boxes of non-excised cigarettes, intended for sale in Samegrelo and Imereti regions have been seized.
Total value of seized non-excied cigarettes exceeds GEL 191 000.
Investigation is underway under the first, second and third parts of the article 200 of Ciminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
