As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with representatives of Customs Department of Revenue Service of Georgia, exposed three facts of breaching the procedure related to movement of especially large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.
Investigation determined, that persons exposed in crime, were trying to import covertly, especially large amount of undeclared golden goods, through customs checkpoint “Sarpi”.
As a result of investigative activities, more than 22 kilograms of silver and 2,5 kilograms of golden goods were seized, having customs value exceeding GEL 240 000.
Investigation is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
