As a result of undertaken activities, representatives of the Investigations Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in cooperation with the representatives of the Customs Department of The Revenue Service, identified two cases of movement of especially large amount of property, by breaching the procedures related to the movement of goods across the customs border.
The investigation determined that the persons exposed in crime had covertly brought to Georgia especially large amount of undeclared precious metal articles through the customs checkpoint "Sarpi."
In total, 517 grams of gold items were seized, the customs value of which exceeds GEL 41,000.
The investigations is underway under the first and second parts of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
